Former Kenya Sevens team captain Collins Injera has backed Shujaa and the Kenya Lionesses to shine on home soil in the upcoming World Rugby 7s Series Division 2 Tournament to be held at Nyayo Stadium.

The rugby veteran has implored Kenyans to rally behind the two sides during the tourney which is set to be the biggest rugby event held on Kenyan soil from February 14 to 15.

“We have a good team that is able to deliver good results with the support of the home fans. I believe Kenya has the quality to deliver a good result,” said Injera.

Injera added that hosting the tournament successfully would give Kenya a huge stride in its bid to host future global events.

“This is an opportunity to show the world what as a country we have to host such a magnitude of a tournament and I believe we will give a good impression to the world that might give us as a country bigger tournaments in future,” added Injera.

In terms of sports tourism, the veteran Shujaa star said it will add value to the country's economy going by the number of tourists who are expected to attend the tournament.

“This is a great opportunity for sports tourism. We will be having visitors from all over the world come to watch the tournament, hence injecting something to the country’s economy.”

The men’s teams include the USA, Uruguay, Germany, Belgium, Canada and hosts Shujaa.

On the other hand, the homegirls, Kenya Lionesses, will battle South Africa, Brazil, China, Spain and Argentina.
