Thika Queens
will likely be without their in-form striker Wendy Atieno for their weekend’s home
game against Trans Nzoia Falcons following her injury on Sunday.
Atieno, the
Kenya Women Premier League goal-scoring leader with 13 goals, sustained a head
injury during their 1-0 loss to Zetech Sparks.
She was
discharged from hospital on Monday but Team Manager Glenstone Muganga says she may
need more time to recover.
“We are
worried about going to the Sunday’s return leg against Trans Nzoia without her.
Her injury was so serious that we had to rush to hospital immediately and
considering Juliet Andibo is also out,” said Muganga.
Muganga said
they are waiting for the doctor’s report on her recovery period before deciding
their attacking line-up.
“We cannot
clearly say when she will be back on the pitch but if we get she will be out
longer then we have to align our attack and use the players we have.”
Thika Queens
are third in the KWPL standing with 21 points after 11 games played so far this
season.
