Judo team shifts focus to African Championships after EA fiesta

Judo team defended their overall title in the East African Judo Championship
held in Uganda, bagging a total of 20 medals.
Having a team of 23, Kenya scooped seven gold medals, six silver and seven bronze as Burundi came second with seven medals.
Hosts Uganda completed the best three with nine
medals but only one gold.
"We are glad that
we fly the Kenyan flag high and defended our title in Uganda after winning it
the previous edition in Zanzibar," said Kinyanjui.
According to the team
coach Isaac Kinyanjui, all gold winners will earn a direct ticket to represent
Kenya in the African Championship.
"The gold medal
winners have a direct ticket and we will have another playoff for some few
additions before jetting out next month," he added.
Seven
countries took part in the championship including hosts Uganda, winners Kenya,
Tanzania, Zanzibar, Burundi, Rwanda and DRC.
At the same time the
tactician has called upon Kenyans to join the sports which is part of the
martial arts as it helps in self defense, behaviour controller and even a
source of income.
"We wish to
advice parents to give a try for their children to play this beautiful and fast
growing game in the world, they will love it."
The Africa Judo
Championship to be held in Oran, Algeria from May 26 to June 2 this year.
