Kakamega Homeboyz owner Shimanyula fires coach John Baraza, picks Manoah to lead

Kakamega Homeboyz owner Cleophas Shimanyula on Thursday fired head coach John Baraza and his deputy Peter Okidi after a string of poor results in the Kenyan Premier League.

The two were given the boot after barely three months in charge and their places taken over by Edward Manoar and goalkeeping coach John Waw on an interim basis.

Their sacking, according to Shimanyula, is due to poor results in the Kenyan Premier.

"We have made changes to the technical bench and with immediate effect the Technical Director  Edward Manoah and Goalkeeping Trainer  John Waw will be in charge of the team on a temporary basis. The rest will step aside," the club said in a statement, moments after club supremo Shimanyula had confirmed the sacking of the top two coaches.

"I have taken that step after a series of poor results and I have also told the players to up their game or risk replacement," he added.

"I assure fans that plenty of positive changes are on the way and we will start winning matches soon. I ask that they be patient for a while," he added.

Homeboyz have not had a good run in the topflight league returning just five wins in 15 matches, with six other matches being draws and four losses.

They sit eighth in the league table on 21 points, 10 adrift of leaders Nzoia Sugar.
