Kenya Premier League side Kakamega Homeboyz are on the verge of signing five players ahead of the 2020/21 season kick off that is primed for October.

Three midfielders and two wingers are expected to put pen to paper and link up with the Nicholas Muyoti coached side ahead of pre-season training.

Head coach Nicholas Muyoti says the club’s new recruits underline their ambitions for the forthcoming Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season.

The new signings will help in their ambitious push for the KPL trophy having finished second last term.

“I can’t give the names now but the new players are joining, the priority number one next season is the league trophy.

“We performed well last season and want to get even better this season now that we are a stronger team,” Muyoti said.

Meanwhile, controversy continues to dog the sponsorship deal announced by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) after Kakamega Homeboyz and Gor Mahia declined to sign an undertaking to receive an initial Sh500, 000 released on Friday as part of the annual grants.

Citizen Digital understands that Homeboyz didn’t append their signatures on the necessary documents to enable cash transfer which has already been sent to the other 15 KPL clubs.

Homeboyz boss Cleophas “Toto” Shimanyul poked holes in the sponsorship deal saying he will not be party to it since it lacks credibility.

Tusker chairman Dan Aduda has said the five-member committee formed to oversee KPL`s transition to FKF Premier League will also scrutinize the details of the sponsorship deal to verify its credibility and not just to rubber stamp it.

The committee is headed by Ulinzi Stars chairman Eric Oloo.

Others are Dan Shikanda (AFC Leopards), Ken Ochieng (Zoo), Robert Maoga (Kariobangi Sharks) and Tusker`s Aduda.
