The Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) has once again postponed the National Premier Basketball League tip off, dealing another blow to clubs and fans eager for the new season.
The national basketball governing body is yet to release an official reason for the latest decision, and has also not announced the rearranged dates for the resumption of the new season.
Despite the setback at the top level, action will go on in the lower tiers, with the men’s Division One and Division Two leagues, alongside the women’s division, set to tip off this weekend.
Relegated sides USIU Tigers and NBK Phoenix will begin life in men’s Division One with tough fixtures at Nyayo Gymnasium in Nairobi. USIU Tigers face Zetech Titans on Saturday, while NBK Phoenix will take on Clique Mamba on Sunday.
In the Women’s Division One, relegated outfit ANU Panthers will also start afresh when they meet Foot Prints on Saturday at the Olympic Grounds in Nairobi.
Their counterparts Storms will wait till February 22 when they will face ANU Panthers in their first match of the season.
The commencement of the lower divisions offers some relief to teams and players after weeks of uncertainty surrounding the new basketball season.
