KCB RFC on Saturday evening cruised into the Enterprise Cup quarterfinals in style after dismantling hapless Catholic Monks 70-03 in the round of 16 match played at KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka.

The Bankers asserted their dominance right from the start of the game, managing to score 8 tries in the first half to set the foundation for the commanding win.

Emmanuel Opondo set the tempo early on with a well-executed try, swiftly followed by Levi Amunga to extend KCB's lead.

Jacob Ojee stole the spotlight with a remarkable first-half hat-trick, while Peter Kilonzo, Austin Sikutwa, and Emmanuel Silungi each contributed with a try, establishing a comfortable 46-00 lead at halftime.

In a valiant effort to secure a point for the team, Catholic Monks' Gabriel Ogwen stepped up for the visitors, converting a penalty early into the second half to grab 3 points for the varsity lads.

With swift and coordinated moves, KCB responded with captain Griffin Musila, along with teammates Bob Muhati, Kolian Persian, and Peter Kilonzo etching their names onto the scoresheet and tapping home a try each to seal the victory. Levi Amunga assumed the conversion roles in the match.

KCB head coach Curtis Olago said, “This is the right response from the team. Today, we used a fairly young team compared to the ones we have been fielding in the season, and I am happy they played well. The results are encouraging. Right now, we focus on the quarters, and we hope to maintain the run until the finals.”

KCB missed the services of Vincent Onyalla, Samuel Asati, and Elvis Olukusi, who are out training with the Shujaa Sevens team.

Michael Wanjala and Andy Cole Omolo were also absent as they are taking part in the Rugby Africa U20 Berthes Trophy 2024, which is ongoing in Harare, Zimbabwe.
