Kenya Cup: Oilers fry Masinde Muliro
Menengai Oilers picked up from where they’d left in March when sports activities were halted by the government owing to the pandemic hitting varsity side Masinde Muliro University 24-10 at Nakuru Showground in a Kenya Cup match as rugby resumed on Saturday after more than three months’ break.
The Oilers scored three converted tries plus a penalty while the western based side had two unconverted two tries.
Courtesy of the win the Gibson Weru coached side rose to third on the log with 14 points behind leaders and defending champions KCB who are on 20 points. They are also one point behind second placed Kabras Sugar who’ll have a quiet weekend.
The bankers, on the other hand, were also victorious thumping Nondescripts 39-08.
In other results Mwamba RFC defeated Top Fry Nakuru 25 – 15 in a match played also played at the ASK showground Nakuru.
Elsewhere varsity side Strathmore Leos drew 20-20 with Kenya Harlequins while the match between varsity side Blak Blad and Resolution Impala Saracens was postponed.
