The Kenya Lionesses are through to the 2025 Africa Women’s Sevens final after outlasting a stubborn Uganda side 17-10 in a pulsating semifinal clash at the RFUEA Grounds on Sunday.

Uganda struck first through Peace Lekuru, who dotted down for an unconverted try to hand the Lady Cranes a 5-0 cushion.

Kenya hit back swiftly, with Freshia Oduor capitalising on a turnover to pull the scores level. Oduor wasn’t done yet, she split the Ugandan defence just before the interval to send Kenya into the break with a 10-5 edge.

Uganda refused to fade, restoring parity at 10-10 early in the second half as the contest tightened. But when the Lionesses needed a moment of brilliance, Naomi Amuguni delivered, grounding the decisive try in the final moments to seal Kenya’s passage to the championship match.

In the quarterfinals, Kenya dispatched Zimbabwe 33-12, while Uganda cruised past Tunisia 31-12.

Kenya now prepare for a heavyweight showdown against South Africa, who were ruthless in their 29-0 demolition of Madagascar.

It sets up a thrilling rematch of last year’s final, where the Bok Women narrowly edged the Lionesses 12-07 in Ghana.

With continental glory and a dose of revenge on the line, all focus now shifts to RFUEA Grounds for what promises to be an explosive finale.

Quarterfinal Results

South Africa 48-0 Ghana

Uganda 31-12 Tunisia

Kenya 33-12 Zimbabwe

Madagascar 17-7 Zambia
