Kenya Off to A Winning Start in Trinidad and Tobago

The Kenyan Athletics team got off to a flying start in the
Trinbago 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games, with Janet Chepkoech and Nancy Cherop
anchoring Kenya's dominance in the women's 1500m with wins in heats
one and two.
Their male counterparts recorded a similar feat, with
Josephat Sang and Andrew Kiptoo easily cruising to victory in their respective
heats to book slots in the finals.
Cyclists Daniel Kiptala and Billy Graham put in a spirited
fight in their road race to finish 14th and 15th in a photo finish.
The girls' rugby team made it two wins in as many after
running a rampage on hosts Trinidad with an emphatic Tobago 48-0 scalp before
falling to Australia 45-0 in the day's second match.
The young Lionesses will face Canada later today in the
last match of the round-robin tournament.
In the Para-athletics category, Faith Kavithi qualified
for the finals after finishing fourth in the T35 women's 100m but was unable to
finish her race in the finals after she tripped and fell.
Randy Odhiambo made it to the finals in the T38 men's 100m
semis and finished seventh.
In Swimming, Sara Mose recorded a personal best in the
women's 50m backstroke and 50m free, while Aker Mutinda also recorded a similar
feat in the men's 50m fly and the 100m free.
