Kenya Amputee Football Federation Organising Secretary Dismus Kuyiyi is confident the national men’s amputee football team will lift the Cecaaf title when the tournament kicks off in Bujumbura, Burundi, this September. Kenya finished third in last year’s edition, behind champions Tanzania and runners-up Uganda. “We know Tanzania will come in with the mentality to defend their title. But our boys finished third last year, just behind Uganda, and I’m confident they’ll fight hard to go all the way this time,” said Kuyiyi. “We’ve seen the squad that has been selected, and I can tell you the hunger and youthful energy are there. We are aiming for nothing less than a top finish.” Both the men’s and women’s teams are scheduled to report to camp on July 1 at MISC Kasarani. Clement Otieno will coach the men’s team, while Sharon Nyaoke will lead the women’s side. “We’ve finalised team selections, with 18 players for each squad. The coaches and players are ready, and we’re set to hit camp on July 1 to sharpen up before flying out to Bujumbura,” Kuyiyi added. The technical bench will also include goalkeeper coach Okatch Ochola. “The players selected are more than capable. With coaches Nyaoke and Otieno at the helm, and Ochola supporting, we mean business. We are ready for the task ahead,” Kuyiyi concluded.
