President William Ruto on Monday assured that Kenya will be ready to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ruto made the remarks Monday after holding a meeting with the visiting Confederations of Africa Football [CAF] President Patrice Motsepe

“Kenya will be ready to co-host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in 2027. The preparations of our three stadia - renovation of Kasarani and Nyayo and construction of the brand new Talanta Sports City Stadium - are progressing well,” President Ruto aid in a statement

“We commit that Kasarani and Nyayo will be ready by the end of this year for African Nations Championships 2025, while Talanta Sports City Stadium will be completed by December 2025 for AFCON 2027.”

Kenya alongside her neighbours Uganda and Tanzania are racing to get her infrastructure ready to host the biennial championship.

Kenya has in the past (1996) and 2018(Chan) failed to host the competition due to lack of stadia readiness.

The MISC Kasarani is currently closed for refurbishment while the construction of the Talanta Sports City Stadium is underway.
