Head coach Meshack Senge has his eyes firmly set on the podium finish for the national women’s hockey team at the 2025 African Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place from October 11–18 in Ismailia, Egypt.

In the previous edition held in Ghana in 2022, Kenya secured bronze medal behind Egypt and the hosts respectively.

“We’ve always aimed to give our best, and this time is no different. Our goal is clear — we want to finish on the podium,"said Senge.

To boost their readiness for the championship, the team has lined up a series of friendly matches as part of their preparation.

The squad with a blend of experienced players and rising young talent has been training intensively at City Park Hockey Stadium, with a focus on strength, agility, and endurance.

“In terms of our preparation, I believe we’ve done well, we’ve met our targets, hit our milestones, and everything is progressing according to plan.”

Meanwhile, the Kenyan men’s team which is also in camp finished just outside the medal bracket in fourth place, behind Nigeria, Egypt, and champions South Africa in the last edition held in 2022.
