Kenyan golf team to fly out to Ethiopia next week for Region IV Championship
The national golf team will next week on Friday head to
Ethiopia for the African Region IV Golf Championship to be held from June 5 -11.
The Kenya team will be joined by Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda
and Burundi as it looks forward to defending the title that they won last year
in the final against Uganda at the par 72 Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and
Spa.
The team was flagged off yesterday by Sports CS Ababu Namwamba who hailed the the squad, urging them to work hard to defend the title.
“Kenya just the other day played host to the Magical Kenya Open
which is gaining a lot of traction within the golf ecosystem internationally.
If Kenyan golfers are to be able to compete at the highest level, the best way
to do that is to invest in our youngsters,” said Ababu.
Team Kenya will be represented by Captain Dennis Maara, Michael Karanga, John Lejirma and Junior Golfer Elvis Muigua.
