Kibera
Black Stars will be out to stretch their winning run to three matches when they
welcome National Super League Migori Youth in an eagerly anticipated clash at
the Cambridge Grounds in Nairobi on Wednesday.
The
Nairobi-based side heads into the encounter in high spirits after picking up a
crucial 1-0 away win against Gucha Stars over the weekend, a result that
underlined their growing confidence and discipline on the pitch.
Speaking
to Citizen Digital ahead of the
encounter, head coach Iddi Badi has credited the recent upturn in form to
teamwork and tactical discipline, noting that his players have shown commitment
and belief in his approach. He believes the squad is gradually rediscovering
the identity that once made Kibera Black Stars a feared outfit in the league.
"It
is not an easy week but we are pushing to get somewhere on top before we break
for Christmas. We want to get back to where we belong, Black Stars is big, two
wins in a row and we are getting it right," he said.
Badi
has also made a rallying call to the club’s supporters, urging them to fill the
stands and push the team forward in what promises to be a stern test against
the league leaders.
"We
promised our fans to give them an away win, it came as a result of everyone
working for it. We had a game plan and it really worked well, when you are
playing away from home and get an early lead, it really motivates the team,"
Badi added.
Kibera
Black Stars currently sit eighth on the standings with 19 points from 13
matches. A positive result against Migori Youth would not only boost their
points tally but also send a strong message about their ambitions as the season
progresses.
Migori
Youth arrive in Nairobi in search of important away points, but Kibera will be
banking on home advantage, momentum, and vocal support from their fans to upset
the lakeside club and keep their rise on track.
