Kibera Black Stars head coach Iddi Badi has praised his youthful squad after their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kisumu All Stars in a crucial National Super League encounter at the weekend.
The decisive moment of the match came through Phoelix
Mboya, who found the back of the net to hand Kibera all three points.
Speaking to Citizen
Digital after the win, Badi expressed satisfaction with the performance of
his young players, highlighting their determination and discipline throughout
the match. He also singled out Mboya’s contribution, noting his excitement at
seeing the forward return to the starting line-up and immediately make an
impact.
'Mboya has not been starting, he has been coming in but you
can see the potential in him. We focus on to the next and our goal still
remains, we want to play in the Kenyan Premier League,” Badi said.
On his part, Mboya credited his coach for showing faith in
him by offering a chance in the first team. The forward said the opportunity
motivated him to deliver, and expressing his confidence in maintaining his
scoring form.
He has already set his sights on the team’s next fixture
against Talant FC, where he hopes to add to his goal collection.
'' It was a good game and the feeling is even better
considering I scored the winning goal," he noted.
The victory proved significant for Kibera’s league
ambitions, lifting them to seventh place with 39 points on the table.
Meanwhile, defeat left Kisumu struggling near the bottom,
sitting in 17th place with 24 points as they continue their battle to climb out
of the relegation zone.
