Kibera Soccer Women proceeded to the final of the FKF Cup after beating Kenyan Premier League champions Police Bullets 2-0 on Sunday.
Kibera’s goals were netted by Munika Maximila and Faith Mboya, shutting dreams of Police to seal a domestic double this season.
Munika fired home after a set-piece in the 54th minute with Mboya scoring from the spot in the final minutes of the game.
Police Bullets failed to show any real intent to score leading to their ultimate defeat, as Kibera controlled the proceedings from the start.
Bullets’ Lawrence Suji, a member of the technical bench, accepted the defeat graciously.
“The team did exactly what I asked of them and I can’t say I can blame them for not sticking to the game plan because they did.”
Kibera Women’s Soccer coach David Vijago was over the moon following his team’s performance.
He however admitted that their main focus for the season was winning the league, which they fell short and are thus comforted with a prospect of the Cup.
“Our main focus had
been the league but I can assure you we are going to win the cup. You can
expect a win from us in the final,” observed Vijago.
Kibera will face Vihiga Queens in the final, after the latter edged out Bungoma Queens 2-1 in the second semi final played on Sunday.
