Kimani rallies his troops ahead of Sofapaka test

AFC Leopards head coach Antony “Modo”  Kimani has challenged his boys to rise to the challenge when they face off with 2009 champions Sofapaka at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

Leopards brim with confidence after two wins on trot thanks to 2-1 and 2-0 results against Tusker FC and Bidco United respectively but face the ultimate test against an equally solid-looking Batoto Ba Mungu.

“It’s a match at a time as we strategize to ensure that at least we register results that are pleasing. I think when we achieve that then with time towards the end of the season we shall count on our points and be able to predict how our finishing line shall be,” said Kimani.

Kimani was on the touchline last weekend as Ingwe romped to victory over Bidco after replacing Czech coach Tomas Trucha and he will be keen to keep the promising start going when they collide with the John Baraza coached side.

“As the coaching staff of AFC Leopards we are are talking to the boys to put all their focus and thoughts on the fixture ahead because that is what shall help us for now.

If we start thinking of five six seven or 10 matches that are ahead then it will not be okay. We need to look forward to our nearest opponents to be able to know how to face them,” the former Mathare United player added.

Ingwe sit joint top with KCB on 6 points though with an inferior goal difference and will be seeking to stretch their winning start to three out three.

A win will catapult them to one of the best starts in recent seasons and stretch their unbeaten form since March 8 when they lost 0-1 to Gor Mahia in the Mashemeji derby at MISC Kasarani.
