The students defeated Stanbic Aces 53-37 before getting another win of 63-56 to fellow varsity side Strathmore Swords over the weekend at Nyayo Gymnasium and Ulinzi Sports Complex respectively.
“Basically some of these games right now are being used as preparation for playoffs. So we can just be that comfortable by winning these last games of the regular season. However we take one game at a time, we are going to adjust because we still have two games to go before playoffs,” Obilo observed.
Zetech Sparks so far tops the women’s league with 38 points having played 20 games, winning 18 and losing two with two games to go in Nairobi against Eldonets and giants Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).
Despite registering double victory last weekend, Maurice Obilo admits it was not a walk on the park.
“What helped us to get victories in those two games is that we took one game at a time. We just needed to adjust a few things and we are glad we managed to win.
"Strathmore also came up very strong, they even led for the better part of the game but we kept on fighting till the last minute,”Obilo said.
Zetech were supposed to play Eldonets who cancelled the match due to fear of Monday July 7 demonstrations, in commemoration of Saba Saba.
The Eldoret based side were unable to travel because they were afraid of the Saba Saba protests which could have affected their transport arrangements especially on their way back to Eldoret.
