Kenya’s teenage prodigy Phanuel Kipkosgei Koech stormed to
victory at the 2025 Ostrava Golden Spike at the historic Městský Stadion in Ostrava, Czech Republic, a key stop on the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold, after clocking
3:29.05 in a thrilling men’s 1500m showdown.
Fresh from his stunning U20 world record of 3:27.72 in Paris
just days ago, Koech showed no signs of slowing down as he held off a quality
field that included Portugal’s Isaac Nader and USA’s Josh Hoey.
Nader smashed the Portuguese national record to take second
in 3:29.37, while Hoey posted a personal best of 3:29.75 to claim third. Rising
Australian star Cameron Myers also dipped under 3:30 with 3:29.80.
Norway’s Narve Gilje Nordås, the 2023 World Championships
bronze medallist, finished fifth in 3:30.73.
Koech’s commanding run sends a strong message ahead of the
2025 World Championships Trials this August in Nairobi.
