Korir lauds government support ahead of Kip Keino Classic Tour

Kip Keino Classic Continental Tour Meet Director, Barnaba Korir, has hailed the government for its support towards the upcoming sixth edition of the event set to take place on Saturday, May 31, at Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Korir, the Athletics Kenya (AK) Nairobi Branch chairman, says they are delighted to host the event, and assured that plans are going on well to ensure the event is successful.

“The government has been very supportive towards several athletics events. We want to thank the government for the opportunity they have granted us to host this event for the past six years, and we want to promise them proper accountability,” said Korir.

Korir also confirmed that more international athletes are still arriving in Nairobi, in a bid to make the competition more exciting and boost Kenya’s credentials as a world-class athletics host.

“This event is going to be very competitive. The athletes that we have visited are hungry for success and I can assure those who are going to attend the event of fireworks and it will be very interesting to watch,” he assured.

The AK Director of Youth Development went on to urge fans to show up in large numbers, with VIP tickets going for Ksh.2,000 and regular tickets at just Ksh.200.

“The funds collected will go towards helping the youth camps that we have set base across the country. The government has been helpful and that is why we need a collective responsibility towards the growth of the sports in the country,” stated thee director.
