KPA clubs keen to maintain perfect starts in KBF
KPA women’s basketball team head coach Anthony Ojukwu has said his side is in a confident mood but expects their perfect start to the season to be challenged when they visit Lady Bucks on Sunday.
KPA, who lost the title to Equity last term, brushed off Zetech and ANU in their opening games of the Kenya Basketball Federation league and face an away trip to Kisumu for their next assignment.
“It’s not an easy game and we will treat it with the respect it deserves. We must be cautious against overconfidence especially because their court is not of the best standards but they are used to it more than we are,” Ojukwu said.
The KPA men’s side, coached by Saammy Kiki, have also won both their opening fixtures and are keen to keen that winning run going.
“I am confident we are going to win especially now that we shall have two days of training in Kisumu (Friday and Saturday) which I believe we shall maximize on it and be able to cut off their strongholds.
“It will be tricky especially playing outdoors and being away but we will ensure we take the lead from the start to the end,” he said.
In their first two matches of the league, KPA hammered EMYBA and KCA University 77-68 and 65-41 respectively in Nairobi.
