Kenya Police FC head coach Nicholas Muyoti says he fully understands the weight of expectation that comes with leading the defending FKF Premier League champions, even as his side continues a rebuilding process following Monday’s 1–1 draw against Bidco United at the Police Sacco Stadium.

Police needed an 88th-minute equalizer from Yves Koutiama to rescue a point, extending Muyoti’s mixed start since taking charge in mid-January. Despite the slow momentum, the coach insists the long-term picture remains positive.

“I came here fully aware that this is a team expected to defend the league title,” Muyoti said. “At the same time, people must understand that rebuilding requires patience, even though fans always want to win.”

The former Nairobi United tactician explained that the transition has been unavoidable after the departure of key players from last season’s title-winning squad.

“When you look at the players who won the league, many of them left,” he noted. “That means we had to rebuild again.

"Even in the middle of the season, we brought in new players, and that is still part of the rebuilding process.”

Since his appointment on January 17, Muyoti has recorded one win, two draws, and one defeat, leaving Police fifth on the table with 29 points, 11 behind leaders Gor Mahia. While acknowledging the challenges, he remains encouraged by the team’s progress.

“Every team faces challenges,” Muyoti said. “But I am happy with what I am seeing. Things are moving in the right direction, and it is just a matter of time.”

Muyoti believes results will soon reflect the improvements on the training pitch. “Once we get our combinations right, I am confident the wins will come,” he said. “I believe in the very next match, you will see us winning.”

Addressing the club’s supporters, Muyoti acknowledged the high standards set by last season’s triumph but called for collective belief as the title defense continues.

Police FC will face Embakasi United in the FKF Cup round of 64 this weekend, ahead of their league clash against Servicemen Ulinzi Stars on February 15.
