KRU release new season fixtures for Kenya Cup

The new season of the Kenya Cup 2019/2020 will kick off on Saturday, October 26, 2019 taking a 16 week-run to Saturday, March 28, 2019.

According to the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) the 2019 Championship winners Kisumu RFC and runners up Western Bulls have been promoted to the top tier while Varsity side Strathmore Leos and Mean Machine were relegated to the Championship league after finishing last season.

Defending Champions KCB RFC are in Pool A alongside Top Fry Nakuru, Menengai Oilers, Menengai Cream Homeboyz and western Bulls while Pool B has last year’s runners up Kabras Sugar, Mwamba RFC, Impala Saracens, Nondescripts, varsity side Blaq Blad and Kisumu RFC.

Once the season kicks off will run every weekend for the first nine weeks until December 21, where it will take a break to allow the Christmas festive season.

The opening round will see defending champions KCB playing host against Western based side Western Bulls while the Nakuru derby comes early Menengai Oilers playing host against Top Fry Nakuru.

Menengai Cream Homeboyz will play against Dominique Habimana’s coached side Kenya Harlequins while new boys Kisumu RFC will make a short trip to Kakamega to play against host Kabras Sugar who finished runners up last year.

Nondescripts play against Impala Saracens who has a new coach Mitch Ocholla while varsity side Blaq Blad will play against Kevin Wambua’s coached side Mwamba RFC.

After the Pool matches the league will head to the play-offs and the final to be played between March 14 to April 4.
