KSSSA warns age cheats as National Term One Games begin
Despite KSSSA’s move to turn to the National Education Management Information System (NEMIS) as its weapon in the fight to end cheating and impersonation at School Championships, Ngugi says some rogue schools have been found on the wrong side.
The online platform requires schools to enter names of students they intend to field at championships before they can be allowed to compete.
“We’re very strict with the age issue, and our officials are keen to ensure ‘clean’ students are the ones competing. We’ve our measures to curb the vice but I strongly warn those will attempt not to do it. We will ban the school and all those involved.
“Let’s teach our students how to compete fairly without short cuts. This will also improve their lives generally. That kid will grow knowing how to work hard.”
The inter-schools championship will see champions from the country's eight regions clash for top honours in rugby 15s, handball, basketball, hockey, swimming and athletics.
The winners of the four-day event will punch tickets to the East Africa Games to be held in August in Uganda.
