KVF set meeting for new volleyball season plans

The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) top officials Saturday are scheduled to meet team managers and coaches of the men and women top-flight clubs to deliberate on the commencement of the new National League season.

The federation is also planning to introduce a Division Two Men’s League in the 2022/2023 season as they seek to elevate the men’s volleyball status in the country for a wide pool of top players to feed the national team.

Through its Organising Secretary Ismail Chege, the federation is set to discuss the possibility of forming the lower level league after many years of running the top-tier league without promotion and relegation formats.

“KVF is intending to start Division 2 for men in the 2022/2023 season, any team that is willing to participate in our national league is invited.

“The meeting will deliberate on the registration of all men's teams, draws and the ladies Pending preliminary league matches plus their playoff. All KVF registration Forms will be issued during the meeting.”

Also on the table is the new date for the women’s league playoffs following disruption after many players were selected to feature for the national team Malkia Strikers in Brazil and the Netherlands.

The men’s league end-season climax was held in July at Nyayo Stadium with General Service Unit (GSU) reigning supreme yet again adding another triumph to their rich trophy cabinet.

KVF aligned its calendar with that of the World governing body FIVB in 2021 with the regular season running from February to July moving from traditional March to November format.
