The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) has officially unveiled the technical and management team for the Kenya Women’s U20 National Volleyball Team, ahead of the 2025 Women’s African Nations  Championships set for August 2-12, 2025, in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

Following a resolution made during the KVF National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on July 20, the federation announced Jackline Barasa, a former KCB middle blocker, as the Head Coach.

Barasa will be assisted by Luka Kariuki, while Bala Conceptor will serve as the team physiotherapist. Kenneth Tonui was named Team Manager, and KVF Secretary General Ismail Chege will double up as the Head of Delegation.

The team will feature 23 players and one international referee, selected from clubs and institutions across Kenya.

Preparations are set to begin on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025, at Nyayo Stadium, where the squad will enter residential camp ahead of the continental showdown.

This year’s championship will also act as the continental qualifier for the FIVB 2026 U21 Women’s World Championship, making the stakes higher for the young Kenyan team.

In the 2024 edition of the African U20 Nations Championship, Kenya finished fourth.

The team lost to Tunisia in the semifinals in straight sets (25-12, 25-14, 25-22) and then fell to Algeria in the bronze medal playoff (3-1: 25-20, 22-25, 25-15, 25-15).

Speaking during the announcement, KVF Secretary General Ismail Chege expressed confidence in the newly appointed technical bench, emphasizing the federation’s commitment to better results this year.

For now, all eyes are on Nyayo Stadium as Kenya’s next generation of volleyball talent begins the journey toward continental glory.
