Leopards edge Saints in friendly

AFC Leopards continued with their pre-season friendlies with a 2-0 win against Western Region Secondary School Games champions St Peters Mumias.

In a match played on Wednesday at the St Peters grounds, Casa Mbungo’s side scored their two goals in the first half through former Nakummat FC  right winger Boniface Mukhekhe and Musa Saad.

Leopards’ captain Robinson Kamura,Vincent Oburu,Moses Mburu and Marvin Nabwire did not feature in the friendly.

Leopards will begin their 2019-20 Kenyan Premier League campaign with an away fixture against Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu stadium on September 1.

Ingwe under new chairman Dan Shikanda has signed six players as they look to win their first domestic silverware since 1998.

The Casa Mbungo coached side landed the signatures of Burundian defender Tresor Ndikumana,Malian striker Ismailia Diarra,Rwandese defender Soter Kayumba,striker Hansel Ochieng from Nzoia Sugar FC,defender Robert Mudenyu from Sony Sugar and Uganda goalie Benjamin Ochan.

The beefing materialized after the club released eight players early this month namely ;

4.Marcel Kaheza (Loan terminated)

5.Aziz Okaka (Contract ended)

6.Paul Were (Contract ended)

7.David Ochieng (Contract ended)

8.Shami Kibwana (Loan ended).

The twelve time league champions finished in position 11 twenty nine points adrift champions and perennial rivals Gor Mahia.

Ingwe is now under a new management after Dan Shikanda,Oliver Shikuku and Maurice Chichi were elected as chairman, secretary general and treasurer respectively on June 23.

Amongst the promises gave is to ensure Leopards lift two league trophies in the three years he will be in office.
