Leopards to honour Kadenge with portrait on new bus

A portrait of Joe Kadenge will feature on AFC Leopards’ new ultra-modern bus before its unveiling before the end of this month, the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) club’s chairman Dan Shikanda has said.

Shikanda said the gesture is a mark of honour for the late Kadenge’s legacy as a football icon.

According to Shikanda, the bus will also be used as an advertising tool for the team sponsor who is expected before the end of February.

The newly acquired bus was donated to the KPL giants Leopards by devolution cabinet secretary Eugine Wamalwa and friends will is set to be unveiled before the end of this month.

“We are yet to unveil it because talks are still ongoing to finalize on the terms with the potential sponsors who will be allowed to use the bus for advertisement as part of the added advantage.

“We want to use this bus as a billboard so as to generate some useful revenue for the betterment of the team and I can assure we are in talks and we hope to announce a sponsor soon”.

Leopards has gone without a sponsor since a betting company Sportpesa cancelled all its sports sponsorship due to high taxation.

The situation has pushed top Kenyan clubs Leopards and Gor Mahia FC into disarray with players and technical staff going for over five months without salaries.

Meanwhile, Shikanda has announced that Leopards will not make any changesto its coaching staff as he reiterated his confidence in caretaker coach Antony Kimani, football operations manager Tomo Juma and goal keeper trainer Lawrence Webo.

Leopards play Tusker in the KPL at Afraha Stadium on Sunday a match that shall be brought live on Mulembe FM from 3:00pm.
