Lowly Mombasa seek festive cheer against Kabras
Defending champions KCB RFC and last year’s finalist Kabras Sugar RFC are hoping to end the year on a high when Kenya Cup action returns over the weekend.
The two teams make away trips to Top Fry Nakuru RFC and Mombasa RFC with four other fixtures also on the cards across the country on Saturday before the Kenya Cup takes a festive season break.
Mombasa will be desperate to record their first win of the season to lift their moods ahead of the recess when they host the Sugar Millers at the Mombasa Sports Club.
The Coastal-based team is ranked bottom of the 12 team log after a winless start to life at the top flight.
Kabras have unleashed a star-studded line-up for the clash with Kenyan international Max Adaka trusted to marshal his teammates to a win after being handed the captain’s armband.
Meanwhile, Nakuru will hope to avoid further misery when they host KCB on the back of successive defeats to Kenya Harlequins and Kabras.
On their part, the Bankers will be hoping to present an early Christmas gift to Curtis Olago who has been shortlisted for SOYA coach of the year award.
“Nakuru is a good side and our games are always worth looking forward to. We are focused on working on a few mistakes ahead of the end year game; hopefully we will get an impressive result as a Christmas present,” Olago said.
Fast rising Menengai Cream Homeboyz who are second on the log travel to Kisii to battle it out with Resolution Kisii at the Gusii Stadium.
The Deejays are yet to lose a single match after three rounds yet the hosts are only seeking what would be a maiden Kenya Cup victory.
Impala Saracens will make a short trip to face Nondescripts’ at the Jamhuri Showground.
