Makumbi adamant hes still Western Stimas boss

Fired Western Stima coach Richard Makumbi has insisted he is still the bonafide coach of the National Super League (NSL) side, saying he the process of terminating his contract was not procedural.

The Ugandan born tactician says the management did not issue him with written letter regarding his sacking and that according to his contract with the Western based club he is still in charge.

“I want to clear everything surrounding this issue, being sacked from a job you have to be given a written document not by word of mouth or from media,” Makumbi told Citizen Digital.

The experienced coach who took charge of the power men mid last year after former coach Henry Omino was appointed to the position of Technical Director, added he will take legal action against the club regarding his contract termination.

“They should compensate me because my contract with them was due next year. If they fail to do so then I will go to court,” he averred.

The contract was set to expire in September 2019, over a year from the time of termination.

Stima announced the sacking of Makumbi last month after a poor run of including the 4-1 defeat in the hands of Sofapaka in the FKF Shield.

However, according to the club’s chairman Laban Jobita, Stima lost controversially to Sofapaka and the coach could have been at the centre of the controversy, a matter the administration is investigating.

“We are not going to accept anybody who wants us to lose unfairly. We (Stima) discovered this when we were playing Sofapaka, and we are seriously looking into that,” offered Jobita.

Under the tutelage of former Palos FC Paul Ogai who replaced Makumbi, Stima has won three matches consecutively keeping their Kenyan Premier League (KPL) return dream alive.

The former KPL side edged Eldoret based GFE105 3-0 on Sunday, a result that fired them the top of the NSL log with 52 points after playing 25 matches.
