Makwata, Otieno move to Botswana giants Gaborone United
Kenyan duo of John Mark Makwata and Duncan Otieno, formerly of
Kenya Police FC, have joined Botswana's top flight side Gaborone United.
The seven-time Botswana Premier League champions said the two
Kenyan internationals have each signed two-year deals with the club.
"Former Kenya Police Football Club striker John Mark
Makwata has penned a 2 years deal with Gaborone United. Makwata is former Zesco
United FC, AFC Leopards, Al-Nasr SC, Burgan SC and Buildcon FC striker,"
the club posted on its Twitter account.
Makwata joined Police as a free agent in October last year
after parting ways with Zambian outfit Zesco United as the law enforcers sought
to galvanize their squad after a dismal start to the season.
However, he was quickly shipped to AFC Leopards amid reports
of a falling out with club hierarchy. At Leopards, he rediscovered his form and
was a key player in their impressive season.
Otieno joined Police shortly after Makwata after leaving Zambian
outfit Lusaka Dynamos.
The former AFC leopards captain was instrumental for Police,
slotting both in midfield and in defense with ease as required by respective
tractions at the club, helping the team stabilize defensively.
