Mara Sugar FC chase for the top spot in the National Super League (NSL) was put was slowed by Rainbow FC after a barren draw at Ildamat Stadium in Kajiado County today.

Both teams showed some intent in opening half with more chances created but none managed to score, and on resumption nothing could materialise from the efforts on show.

Rainbow coach Eric Macharia was quick to accept the draw saying he is just from a poor run and drawing with leaders was a plus.

“The game was good our players played as had planned only that we had a problem with scoring. We will go back to drawing board to work on scoring. We are just from not a good run and getting one point is good, I think my players’ confidence is good because they were composed while playing one of the top teams,” noted coach Machira.

On his side, Mara Sugar coach Naibei Godfrey said he was anticipating for a win but Rainbow were too good to challenge his thoughts.

“I came here knowing that I will add three points but all teams were at par and everybody worked so hard to get the draw. Now that we are still among the top teams, I will work on attack to ensure that I get goals. All in all, a draw is not bad.”

Mara Sugar will remain the third on the log with 24 points after the Saturday draw.
