Marco Baroni succeeds Tudor as Lazio coach
South Korea's national football team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann speaks to reporters upon his arrival at Incheon International Airport in Incheon, west of Seoul, on February 8, 2024 after South Korea got knocked out of the semi-finals at the Asian Cup. South Korea's top football officials recommended on February 15, 2024, that coach Klinsmann be fired, saying "leadership change is necessary" after their Asian Cup semi-final exit and in-fighting among star players. "Lazio announce they have put Marco Baroni in charge of the first team," the Serie A club stated.
The 60-year-old Italian has signed a multi-year contract, the Rome side added.
Baroni moves to Lazio after one season at Verona, who finished 13th last term, and previously coached Lecce from 2021 to 2023.
The Lazio job became vacant last Thursday when Tudor reportedly quit as he was at odds with his bosses over the composition of the current squad and his transfer targets.
Under Tudor, who took over from Maurizio Sarri in mid-March, Lazio suffered just one league defeat, winning five and drawing three.
They finished seventh in Serie A and secured the last qualifying place for next season's Europa League.
