Mathare United will begin life in the National Super League
with a clash against Migori Youth when the second-tier season begins on
September 16.
It follows confirmation of kick-off dates for the 2023/24 NSL
season by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) who already announced the top league
will commence on August 26.
Mathare will hope to make a great start as they bid for an instant
return to the FKF Premier League after they were relegated for the first time in
their history last year.
Migori will be eager to master yet another strong season to
try and contest for promotion again after falling short in the promotion/relegation
playoff last term.
Newly promoted sides Luanda Villa, Nairobi United and Rainbow
will make their debuts against Mombasa Elite, Kibera Black Stars and Darajani
Gogo respectively.
Last season’s FKF-PL promotion contenders, Mara Sugar, will
also start their campaign away to Coastal Heroes.
Meanwhile, Coastal derby pitting Coastal Heroes and SS Assad
will feature early in round three on September 30 at Mbaraki Sports Club while
Vihiga Derby between Vihiga Bullets and Vihiga United will be played in round
fourteen at Mumias Sports Complex.
Twenty teams will contest in the FKF-NSL with two gaining
automatic promotion while the third placed team left to go through a promotion
playoff.
