Ruiru Golf Club was the stage for stellar performances and spirited competition on Saturday  as the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) Golfer of the Year (GOTY) tournament unfolded with top female golfers from across the country battling it out for top honors.

Playing with great composure and precision, Mercy Nyanchama carded a superb gross score of 74, outshining a competitive field in one of the most anticipated events on the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) calendar.

Speaking after the event, an elated Nyanchama said:

“Today everything just came together. The course was in great condition, and I felt confident with every shot. Competing against such talented ladies and coming out on top is truly humbling. I’m grateful to KLGU and Ruiru Golf Club for hosting such a well-organised event."

In Division A Gross, competition was intense. Kanana Muthomi, playing off a handicap of -1, edged out her peers to claim the gross winner’s title on countback with 77 gross. Benta Khanili, also on 77 gross, took the runner-up position, while Chanelle Wangari (H/C 0) finished third, also scoring 77. Joyce Njuguini (H/C -1) came in fourth with 78 gross.

"We are proud to have hosted this prestigious leg of the GOTY series. The talent on display today was simply outstanding. Events like these are not just about competition but about growing the game and inspiring the next generation of female golfers,” said Lady Captain Rodah Mukami.

The Division A Nett category saw Beldina Monchari (H/C 20) claim the top spot after a countback, scoring 67 nett. Lydia Mokaya (H/C 18) secured the runner-up spot with a matching 67 nett, while Rebecca Njui (H/C 19) placed third with 69 nett.
