Messy divorce: Medo aims dig at Sofapaka, upbeat on his new role

American coach Melis Medo has sensationally claimed his former club Sofapaka FC can never win a KPL title any time soon because of what he termed as ‘viruses’ which have permeated the club.

Few days after ditching the 2009 KPL champions for Mount Kenya United, Medo has taken a dig at his former club saying that everything is rotten and some of the club officials are dragging behind owner Elly Kalekwa.

Medo left his position as Sofapaka as head coach on Tuesday and later revealed to Citizen Digital that Mt. Kenya United had contacted him to offer him a job.

His exit at the 2009 champions has turned out to be sour, messy and loud divorce.

He said: “A club with a good president but with a lot of cancer, Elly(Kalekwa) is not aware he is surrounded by this cancer and his dream is to win the Kenyan Premier League title. How ?The whole thing is rotten. I could not take it anymore. Some officials want to put their hands on the players bonuses, is that not theft?” he wondered.

In a no-holds-barred interview, Medo blasted one un-named player whom he believes the club should have released in the ended transfer window due to indiscipline.

“ He never comes to training with others, how can I involve him in the squad? The club didn’t let him go, why? Now that I’ve I left there he’s coming back(laughs), you see how the process was planned from day one?

Medo who has since returned to Mount Kenya making a re-union with his former club barely three months after parting ways with them also cited monetary challenges noting that he’s owed salary arrears for four months.

“ I want to produce good football with the good players but  results too. Money doesn’t motivate me, that’s not me. Let’s wait and see,” added Medo.

Mt Kenya have so far collected only two points from their eight league outings, tasting six defeats in the process and Medo is aware that his side have to improve if they are to avoid the relegation  dog fight the second season in a row.
