Mombasa Olympic eager to end slump as Kayole visit

The Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League (WPL) resumes on Sunday with two fixtures on the cards and two others wrapping up the Easter period action on Monday.

Mombasa Olympic who are placed 14th will look to climb up the standings when they tackle fellow strugglers Kayole Starlets with coach Joseph Oyoo rallying them to get the win.

“It will not be an easy game; they are ahead of us so we have to work hard to secure the win,” Oyoo said.

Oyoo admitted the loss of key players including Mwanalima Adam who switched allegiances to Thika Queens has left them less incisive.

“We are really struggling to deliver in the league. My key striker Adam was snatched by Thika Queens and since then her position hasn’t been filled well. She was sensational and a very skilled player,” the tactician added.

Striker Nuru Mustafa also decamped to Mathare Women United while Elizabeth Katugwa who was outstanding last season is committed with her studies.

In other matches Palos FC will host Trans Nzoia Falcons at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu while Oserian Ladies will play Mathare at their home ground in Oserian.

On Monday, bottom table side Vihiga Leeds will entertain Eldoret’s Falcons at Mumias Complex with Mombasa’s Mbaraki Stadium hosting Olympic versus Kayole Starlets.

The match pitting Vihiga Quuens against Thika Queens was postponed to a later date as both teams are missing their key stars who are out on international duty with the national team.
