Kenya Police FC is poised to make history as they prepare to launch their campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup, in the preliminary round against Ethiopian Coffee Stars on Sunday.

The first leg takes place at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, marking Kenya Police FC's inaugural appearance on the continental stage, after winning the FKF Cup last season.

Kenya Police FC Head Coach Salim Babu has expressed confidence in his team's readiness, after what he says has been a good preseason.

He was addressing journalists on Saturday at the Nyayo Stadium, their last training session at the venue ahead of the clash.

"We have had ample time to prepare and the boys are ready, except for one player who is injured. We expect a good performance, given that it's our first time competing internationally, there's no pressure.

“Most of my players have experience on the big stages from their previous clubs, so we have an idea of what to expect. We aim to be aggressive and score as many goals as possible at home," averred Babu.

His captain Musa Mohammed also shared his optimism of kicking off their campaign on a high.

"We have had a productive camp and everyone is prepared. The new additions have blended well with the rest of the team, and we are hopeful for a positive result. This is a huge experience for the club and the players. We encourage all our fans to come out and support us," Musa, a former Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars skipper said.

In the preseason, Police FC, welcomed Ugandan forward Alfred Leku, formerly of Kiyovu Sports of Rwanda, and Senegalese midfielder El Hadji Abdou Karim.

The squad also includes former Tusker FC winger Eric Zakayo, AFC Leopards’ Jaffari Owiti, Daniel Sakari, Jackson Macharia, Geoffrey Onyango, Brian Musa, and goalkeeper John Samuel Njau.

Coffee are already in the country and are expected to have a feel of the Nyayo Stadium pitch later Saturday afternoon, ahead of the tie.

Should Police FC sail through they will book a date with Confederation Cup defending champions Zamalek of Egypt in the first round.
