The Kenyan duo of Commonwealth 800m champion Mary Moraa and world 3000m steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech produced sublime performances to triumph in their respective races at the Lausanne Diamond League on Friday night.

Moraa who was facing off with world silver medalist Keely Hodkinson for the first time this season, produced a tactical brilliance to beat the Briton as she took a comfortable victory in a season best of 1:53.47

Hodkinson settled for second in 1:58.37 with Natoya Ghoul of Jamaica rounding off the podium in 1:58.90

“It was a very challenging race and I felt completely empty at the end of it. The weather was particularly difficult for me. My mentor would have been extremely proud of my achievements tonight.” Moraa said in her post-race interview.

Meanwhile, Chepkoech stormed to a new meeting record of 9:05.98 as she held off Ethiopian Sembo Almayew who settled for second in 9:06.82
