Harambee Starlets have been handed a massive shot in the arm ahead of Wednesday’s African Women Cup of Nations qualifier against Equatorial Guinea following the return to training of Janet Bundi Moraa.

Moraa who is the top scorer in Women Premier League  with seven goals from eight games will be racing against time to gain match fitness as the Starlets chase for a first leg advantage when they tackle the visitors at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos on Wednesday.

Thika Queens Faith Kwamboka and Teresa Engesha who impressed in training, and Eldoret Falcons’ Ruth Ingosi, are also in line for their maiden appearance.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, head coach David Ouma said: “The new players are amazing and they are proving why we drafted them in the provisional squad of 26. We are ready to face our opponents and I am sure we will win the match,”Ouma enthused.

“We are working together as a team; we want to ensure the midfielders are able to cover wide areas .We are looking forward to a good match and better results. We urge our fans to show up in large numbers.”

Equatorial Guinea will be seeking to make a comeback to the continental scene after they failed to qualify for the 2014 edition. The team was disqualified in the 2016 and 2018 editions for fielding ineligible players but the ban was lifted last year, allowing them to compete in this year’s edition.
