Morocco’s Hajij elected CAVB president

The Royal Moroccan Volleyball Federation president Bouchra Hajij is the new president of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB).

Hajij unseated the long-serving Dr. Amr Elwani of Egypt who has been at the helm of CAVB for the past two decades after garnering 42 votes against Elwani’s 12 in the delayed polls conducted virtually owing to the outbreak of coronavirus.

The CAVB Electoral Congress kicked off on Saturday culminating in the elections held on Sunday that were attended by 52 national federations across Africa with Tunisia and Guinea the only federations missing out.

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) president Waithaka Kioni retained his seat as the vice president of Zone V which consists of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Djibouti, South Sudan, Egypt and Eritrea.
