Kabati Youth FC
head coach Joe Mungai has praised his players for their dedication and fighting
spirit that helped the team earn a historical promotion to the FKF National
Super League (NSL).
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Mungai noted that during the 2024/25 season, the club
narrowly escaped relegation —
a situation that fueled their motivation and hunger, ultimately contributing to
their success last season, despite stiff competition in the league.
The NSL debutants are currently preparing
for the upcoming season, with club officials racing to secure funds to
strengthen the squad. Meanwhile, Coach Joe Mungai is on a mission to recruit
new players who will boost the team’s
competitiveness.
"The technical bench is burning the
midnight oil to come up with a strong team that will be able to compete
effectively in the National Super League. We will be conducting trials at the
end of this month, which will give us a chance to select players that will help
us play well in the second tier league. We can only ask the management to look
for funds to help us reinforce the squad ahead of next season."
The team arguably performed impressively
and shone throughout last season, attracting interest from several top-tier
league clubs. The tactician has also
stated that he will not stand in the way of any player who receives a good
offer, emphasizing that his players’ growth and development is a top priority.
"I cannot stand in the way of a
player who has attracted interest from anywhere. I know of some players who are
currently doing trials with Bidco United, if they secure better deals then I can't
be an obstacle," he added.
Kabati finished top of Zone A and becomes
the second team from Murang’a
County to participate in a higher-level league, following Murang’a SEAL, which
plays in the Premier League.
