Despite taking a commanding 2–0 lead at the stroke of halftime through goals from Joe Waithira and Francis Memusi, SEAL were put to the sword by the former champions who scored three goals in the second half to claim maximum points.

The defeat ended SEAL’s unbeaten run of five wins and five draws. They are placed ninth in the standings with 21 points, nine adrift of leaders Gor Mahia after 16 matches.

Reflecting on the defeat, Monday felt mental fragility proved costly for his side.

“I think we lacked mental strength, and that was the only undoing for my boys. Gor Mahia were patiently waiting for their chances, and the moment we conceded two quick goals, their spirit was lifted while ours dropped,” said Monday.

He added: “I wouldn’t say my boys lost their grip or became lax, because they tried their best. However, a loss of concentration let us down. Experience played a big part, but these things happen.”

About SEAL’s ten-match unbeaten run coming to an end, the former Tusker FC player said the team is already looking ahead.

“Instead of dwelling on this result, we have chosen to focus on our next match against Bidco United. We will rebuild and see how it goes,” he stated.

The victory lifted K’Ogalo to the top of the KPL standings with 30 points from 15 matches, level on points with second-placed AFC Leopards but ahead on superior goal difference.

Murang’a SEAL, meanwhile, remain ninth on the table with 21 points from 16 matches.
