Despite registering an awful start to the 2018/2019 Kenya Premier League (KPL) season,  Vihiga United head coach Mike Mururi believes his team has made improvements.

Vihiga battled Sofapaka to one-all-draw in last weekend’s assignment and Mururi believes it marks a turn-around in their performance as his boys gave a better display compared to their previous matches.

The weekend outcome saw Vihiga register their fourth draw, while the rest of their three matches ended in a win and two losses, hauling their points tally to 7 to occupy position 12 on the 18-team table.

“I thank my players for great improvement considering the past three games where we were below average but in our last match against Sofapaka the performance was at 90 percent though lack of concentration in the last minutes made us to concede when we could have earned maximum points,” Mururi said.

The dismal stat to the campaign has been blamed on management issues with delayed salary and arrears being a bone of contention.

In December, the team staged a good-slow demanding payment of their dues. The team, which is sponsored by the Vihiga County Government, clinched a 12th place finish last term.

Mururi’s charges will this weekend face KCB at the Ruaraka grounds in Nairobi hoping to harvest maximum points.
