London Marathon champion Alexander Mutiso Munyao says he won’t get carried away with this victory on Sunday.

Munyao beat three-time Olympic track champion Kenenisa Bekele to win his first World Major Marathon in a time of 2 hours 4 minutes 01 seconds and he said he chooses to remain focused and concentrate on growing his career in the race.

“I am very proud of my victory; it has been hard work and dedication, I won’t get carried away but remain focused and learn from the best and work had to win more races in future,” said Mutiso.

Bekele and Munyao pulled clear of a group including world champion Tamirat Tola but the Kenyan had the legs in the final few kilometers to win by 14 seconds and admits it was not any easy task with the toughness of the London course but he realized he was winning the race with two kilometers to go.

“London is a tough course and not for the faint-hearted. Running with the greats pushed me more to stay focused and win the race. I look forward to many great races in future,” added Mutiso.

He went on to dedicate the win to all Kenyans promising to make them proud in the coming races.

“This is win for Kenya and I hope and pray that I will be able to make the country more proud in many races to come,” stated the champion.
