Kenyan Vivian Corazon Aquino scored a second half penalty as Simba Queens edged She Corporates 1-0 to lift clinch the CECAFA club championship title on Saturday at the Azam Sports Complex in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam.

Victory saw the three-time Tanzanian Women’s Premier League winners secure qualification into the second edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League scheduled for November in Morocco.

Simba thus completed a perfect run in the eight-team competition having won all their matches from the group stages all the way to sinking the Ugandans She Corporates in the final.

For Aquino who joined Simba just last month on a two-year deal, coming up with the match-winner capped an impressive tournament where she scored five goals and was named Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Vihiga Queens won the inaugural trophy last year but Kenya did not have a representative this season as the country is still serving a FIFA ban since February due to government interference.
