Talented midfielder Brian Mzee, commonly referred to Mzeeles, is yearning to prove his worth in his second season in top flight football with Nairobi City Stars.

Mzee is one of the 16 players who renewed their contracts with the premier league club ahead of the new season.

In his debut season in the league, he featured in 25 out of 34 games for the 'Simba wa Nairobi', which was briefly interrupted by a stint in Asia which did not go as planned forcing him to return to City Stars.

Fresh off a notable debut season, Mzee is enthusiastic about building on his promising performance to ensure the club performs better in the league.

“My first season in the premier league was good. In January, I went to Taiwan to try my trade but things did not turn out as planned and I came back,” said Mzee.

“The team welcomed me back very well and I have to thank the management and the entire coaching staff for accepting me back,” he added.

Mzee’s debut last season was marked by a standout performance in the season opener against Muhoroni Youth.

His first full game was against Bidco United, where he earned the award of Most Valuable Player (MVP).

His remarkable performance continued throughout the season, where he earned more MVP awards in matchday 10 against AFC Leopards and against Muranga SEAL on matchday 26.

His consistent performances also saw him make the team of the week on several occasions.

Looking ahead, Mzee is optimistic about the upcoming season.

“I am anticipating a more successful season given that I’ve gained some experience from my first season. I want to contribute more to the success of the team,” he averred.

In his debut season, Mzee logged an impressive 1,673 minutes across 25 games, including 18 starts and 11 full games.

With his renewed contract and enriched experience, Mzee is set to play a crucial role in Nairobi City Stars' campaign for top honors in the forthcoming season.
