Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) volleyball giants, Namwela Boys High School have set sights on clinching the Western region title after asserting their dominance in Bungoma County in the just concluded high school games.
Under the
tutelage of head coach Isaac Muresha, the school extended its reign as county
champions — a title they have held unbroken since 2019.
Speaking to Citizen Digital after his team’s
emphatic performance, Muresha expressed confidence in Namwela’s prospects at
the regional stage, noting the school’s sustained excellence and commitment to
maintaining top form.
“We are proud to
have retained the county title. It wasn’t easy because the competition was
tough, but our boys rose to the occasion. Our eyes are now firmly on the
Western region championship,” said Muresha.
Namwela sealed
their county triumph with a commanding 3-0 victory over Chesamisi Boys in the
finals at Bungoma High School. Muresha acknowledged that the Bungoma County
championship was fiercely contested this year, with every participating school
putting forth well-drilled squads.
“This year’s
competition was very competitive. Every school came well-prepared, and matches
were not easy. Winning this title again is a testament to the hard work and
determination of our players,” he added.
The focus now
shifts to the Western region secondary schools volleyball championships set to
take place at St. Peter’s Mumias High School in Kakamega County in July.
Namwela Boys will be hoping to replicate their county success on a larger stage
and possibly earn a ticket to the national games.
