National shooting team intensifies training for IDPA
The Kenya
National Gun Owners association team has intensified its training in
preparation for the IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) shooting
competition.
The event will
be held in Kenya at the Kirigiti shooting range between April 4-9 with teams
from Europe, USA and South Africa expected to attend.
The Kenyan competition
and training captain Sammmy Onyango has said they are ready to host the
championship.
A team that
will represent the country will be selected from the local league matches by the
Kenya Sports Shooting Federation (KSSF).
“We are
welcoming every Kenyan, especially the licensed firearm holders, to be able to
come and converge for the competition because all the other countries will be
here and it's good when a good number is coming from Europe.
“I was in
the USA three weeks ago and had good meetings with some of the clubs and I can
see around twenty participants coming from there and Kenya being on the map. We
will make sure we lead Africa,” Onyango said.
